Ismail Cem holds talks with Sattar

ISLAMABAD, Dec 16: Turkish Foreign Minister Ismail Cem, arrived here on Sunday evening at the head of a high-level delegation, while on his way to Afghanistan.

He was received at the airport by high officials.

Ismail Cem later held talks with Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar at a working dinner hosted by his Pakistani counterpart, at a local hotel.

According to official sources, the two sides held talks on the evolving situation in the region, with specific reference to Afghanistan.

They also discussed ways and means to further enhance bilateral cooperation in diversified fields.

The Turkish Foreign Minister, Ismail Cem had last visited Pakistan in January this year and signed a Memorandum of Understanding envisaging a mechanism of bilateral consultations between the foreign ministries of Pakistan and Turkey.

Ismail Cem will officially reopen the embassy with Turkey’s newly appointed ambassador, Mufit Ozdes.

“I hope that this visit will mark a new start in the ties between the two countries’ people,” Ismail Cem said in Ankara before his departure.—APP
