KARACHI, Dec 15: Hundreds of students seeking admission to the city medical colleges reached the office of City Nazim Naimatullah Khan after hearing the final decision of the Sindh government announcement that there would be no third entrance test.
They thanked Mr Khan for fighting with the government for their case.
Talking to newsmen, the city Nazim said that the issue was extremely important because some students had been trying to get admission to the government-run medical colleges in the city by resorting to unfair means, thus depriving deserving students of their seats.
He demanded that entrance tests conducted by the Institution of Business Administration should be abolished, adding that the credibility of the IBA stood tarnished for ever.
He told the students that as the Nazim of Karachi he considered himself responsible for the problems of the Karachiites.
Speaking at an Eid gift distribution function in Korangi, the Nazim said the privatization of educational institutions would be ruinous to education, adding that the city government did not favour such a policy.
He observed that nationalization of educational institutions by the then government had been a big mistake but their denationalization will be an even greater mistake.—APP
