KARACHI: Arts Council elections


KARACHI, Dec 12: A leading personality of the advertisement field, S. H. Hashmi on Wednesday announced that he would contest for a third time the elections for vice president of the Arts Council in its annual elections. He also announced his panel.

Speaking at a press conference at Karachi Press Club, Mr Hashmi also spoke about the performance of his two previous terms as vice president of the Arts Council and also explained his future line of action if he was returned in the Dec 30 elections.

Talking about his panel, he said that members from every section of the art and literature had been selected to make it true representative.

The S. H. Hashmi Panel would consist of noted social personality Saifur Rehman Girami (Honorary Secretary) and noted playwright Rizwan Siddiqui (Treasurer).

The following would be members of the Governing Body: Muhammad Ayoub (Radio/TV/Theatre actor), Anjum Ayaz (sculptor/painter), Talat Hussain (Pride of Performance holder actor), Javed Saba (poet/journalist), Najeeb Ahmed (journalist/KPC Secretary), Arshad Mehmood (Music composer/actor), Syed Sjjad Hassan (actor/compare), Shafi Muhammad Shah (Pride of Performance holder actor), Hassan Zaheer (journalist/ author), Manzar Ayoubi (poet/writer) and Dr Rehana Shah (Orthopaedic surgeon, social worker). —APP
