Tehran protests Blair’s remarks on terrorism

TEHRAN, Dec 7: Iran officially protested on Friday British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s remarks that London and Tehran cannot have new relations because of what tBlair called Iranian support for terrorist activities, state radio said.

The radio said British charge d’affaires Neil Crampton had been summoned to the foreign ministry to receive the protest.

Asked in parliament on ties with Tehran on Wednesday, Blair said: “There can be no new relationship in the end with countries that have for a variety of reasons had a very poor relationship over the last few years with the Western world ... except on the basis they cease supporting the activities of terrorism.”—AFP
