Wapda capture title

LAHORE, Dec 5: Wapda won the Ramazan-ul-Mubarak cycling Championship at the velodrome near the Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday.

Railways got second and Punjab side third position.

Zafar Husain (Wapda) was declared the best cyclist among men and Raheela Bano (Punjab) the best cyclist among women.

On last day of the three-day championship on Wednesday, Muhammad Ashraf (Wapda) won the 4000 metres individual pursuit race.

Zafar Husain (also Wapda) finished second and Zahid Rahi (Railways) third.

4000 metres team pursuit final was claimed by Wapda. The team comprised Zafar Husain, Shakeel Qasim, Shamsher Ali and Muhammad Ashraf.

Punjab consisting of Nabeel Qasim, Amanat, Ashraf and Tariq Ghani finished second.

Railways comprising Muhammad Hashim, Zahid Rahi, Muhammad Shakeel Shahid and Muhammad Akram got third position.

At conclusion of the championship, the Punjab social welfare minister Miss Shaheen Atiq-ur-Rahman gave away the prizes. Waqar Ali was the organising secretary.

The following served as judges during the championship:

Chaudhary Muhammad Qasim, Shahzada Butt, Zulfiqar Ali, Dilsher Ali, Haroon Rashid.
