LAHORE, Dec 1: Alliance for Restoration of Democracy president Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan says he has received a very positive response to his initiative to hold an all-party conference to evolve consensus on important national issues.
No date has so far been fixed for the moot as the convenience of the invitees is being looked into.
The ARD chief has already declared that parties having a soft corner for the military government or those opposed to the 1973 constitution will not be invited.
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement, the Pakistan Awami Tehrik, the Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement (PONM) and the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz are among such parties, knowledgeable sources say. There is also little possibility of the PML(QA) being invited. It is not clear whether the ANP will be invited.
Until recently the ANP was a part of the ARD but it left the coalition on account of differences on Afghanistan issue.
It is said any party in agreement with the agenda of the APC will be extended an invitation.
