GUJRANWALA, Nov 30: The Anti-Corruption Establishment on Friday sent a summary to the Gujranwala SSP asking him to suspend from service the two police officers who were booked on corruption charges a few days ago.
Ghakkhar Town SHO Gohar Abbas Bhatti had reportedly taken Rs50,000 in connection with registration of a double murder case. He also bargained with the accused party.
ASI Muhammad Mansha of Model Town received Rs30,000 in connection with a case.
Both the policemen are still performing their duties despite registration of corruption cases against them.
Meanwhile, an anti-corruption court awarded one-year imprisonment with a fine of Rs10,000 to one Noor Husain, a naib qasid of the defunct municipal corporation, in an embezzlement case.
According to the prosecution, the convict was given a heavy amount by a cashier of the municipal corporation to deposit the same with the bank, but he reportedly usurped the money and disappeared. Later he was arrested by police.
PTCL PACKAGE: The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) announced a new package under which new telephone connections will be given in 72 hours.
The package was announced at a meeting held here on Friday with general manager Muhammad Anwar in the chair.
Areas where the package will be implemented include Model Town, Model Town main market, Small Industries Estate No 1, Sharifpura, Dhulley, Grain market, Deen Plaza, Lorry Adda, Zahid Colony, Shaheenabad, Shama Colony, Barkat Colony, Climaxabad, Samanabad, DC Office Road, Amir Park, Gill Road, Akram Colony, Asghar Ali Road, Civil Lines, Munir Chowk, Khokherki, Kutcha Fatu Mand, district courts, Imran Colony, Islamia Park, Commissioner Colony, Satellite Town, Satellite Town market, Popular Nursery, Tariq Colony, Abid Colony, Ratta Road, Delta Road, Gulzar Colony, Islam Colony, Nurpura, Kamboh Colony, Ram Basti and Kashmir Town
The Model Town divisional engineer (telephones) will receive the application from subscribers and issue them demand notice instantly to ensure the provision of new telephone connection within 72 hours.
AWARDED RI: The Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 on Friday awarded 98-year imprisonment with a fine of Rs300,000 to a convict for killing his wife and children.
According to the prosecution, convict Riaz had killed his wife, Ghulam Sakina, two sons Hasnain and Saqlain and daughters Fehmida and Tanzila on Jan 6, 2001, in Malikwal, Mandi Bahauddin. He had also injured his brother and other family members.
