Embassy warns Americans off travelling to Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, Nov 23: The United States embassy has warned Americans against the danger of travelling to Afghanistan.

“The United States embassy reminds all Americans that the US Department of State Travel Warning for Afghanistan advises against all travel to Afghanistan”, says a press release, issued by the embassy here on Friday.

“The situation in Afghanistan remains fluid. Security throughout the country, including areas around Kabul and other major cities, is poor and inconsistent, making all travel by road dangerous”, it said and added that while the World coalition against terrorism continued its military attacks against Taliban and al-Qaeda forces, seven journalists had been killed in Afghanistan in recent weeks.

The press release said that there was no American embassy or consulate in Afghanistan, and advised Americans, contemplating travel to the country, to first contact the US embassy or consulate in their country of departure.—APP
