Coaches fail to turn up

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Nov 20: A poor response was received on the opening day of the national football training camp as both the coaches, Siddique Sheikh and Akhtar Mohyuddin, failed to reach the football training camp at the Model Town ground on Tuesday.

The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has invited 38 probables for finalisation of its two teams i.e seniors and under-23, but only four players included defenders Shahid, Aamir Riaz,  Asadullah and strikers Mohammad Arif lodged in at a local hotel when this report was filed.

The  Pakistan Senior team is to take part in the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Gold Cup tournament to be held at Dhakka from Jan  25 to Feb 4, 2002.

The Under-23 will take part in the ninth SAF Games to be staged at Islamabad in March-April next year.

Asadullah who reached here was unfit as he had fractured his left hand during the PFF President Cup football tournament at Bahawalpur.

A PFF spokesman said that the coaches and more probables were expected to arrive some time late on Tuesday night and hopefully the camp would be in full swing in couple of days.
