Dacoits break through police checkposts

MULTAN, Nov 20: At least five dacoits on Sunday night escaped police chase following three unsuccessful attempts to loot people and leaving two persons injured.

The culprits managed to avoid trouble at several checkposts in Multan, Khanewal and Vehari.

The dacoits reportedly injured Muhammad Younis when he resisted their attempt to drive away with his two-wheeler in Mahni Siyal, Kabirwala.

Later, they tried to loot a pick-up driver. Police could not confirm any loss to the driver.

Kabirwala police followed the absconding dacoits who yet again tried to take away cash from a petrol pump but returned after leaving the gunman hurt.

Meanwhile, Multan police joined the team chasing the culprits but without success.

Police said the recent reports revealed the culprits left their car (LOB-6286) in Vehari and escaped on foot.

ARRESTED: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two members of a gang during a raid in Shujaabad.

The team raided a den and arrested Intizar Ali and Tauseef Ahmad with a rifle, a pistol, four bullets and five cartridges. Four others, Aslam, Khalid, Farman and Nasruddin offered resistance and managed to escape.

The dacoits were reportedly planning to go on a valuable heist.

Shujaabad Saddar police have registered separate cases against the culprits under sections 399/402, 324/353, 186 PPC.—APP
