BAHAWALPUR, Nov 20: The district organization of the Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan on Tuesday protested against serving of substandard meals to the prisoners and inadequate arrangements for Iftar-o-Sehr inside the new central jail.

A meeting presided over by district SSP president Rao Javed Iqbal expressed concern at inhuman behaviour of the jail staff with prisoners.

The meeting was told that when the prisoners lodged a complaint with the deputy superintendent, he tortured them.

The participants demanded the high-ups to look into the matter and improve the quality of meals.

PRICE HIKE: Prices of daily use items have gone sky high since the start of Ramazan.

The government organized Ramazan bazaars daily, but there was no let up for the common man. Even surprise visits by Nazim Tariq Cheema along with the DCO failed to deter profiteers.

People visiting Ramazan bazaars were of the opinion that the government machinery had failed to control price hike.
