ISLAMABAD, Nov 20: The government officials who deposited 25 per cent amount in advance in Islamabad New City Housing Project to purchase plots have appealed to the government to direct National Housing Authority (NHA) to refund their amount or allot them alternate plots.

According to one of the affected persons, the scheme was launched in a private sector in collaboration with Capital Development Authority and National Housing Authority in 1995-96.

He maintained that the government officials were informed by the then government to buy plots in the NHA.

He claimed that the then CDA chairman and NHA DG categorically called it a “government project”.

The confusion was created in the media and ultimately CDA and NHA disassociated themselves without observing the formalities and leaving behind the investors at a lurch. — APP
