FAISALABAD, Nov 15: Leather exporter and local trade leader Rana Haq Nawaz was shot dead while his friend police inspector Ijaz Khan Baluch sustained multiple injuries in what seemed to be a ‘targeted’ hunt in Muhammadi Colony on Wednesday night.

Details gathered by this correspondent revealed shoe shop owner Rana Haq Nawaz, 39, along with his friend Ijaz, returned home on Wednesday. His younger brother told him that he saw some people roaming around on their roof the previous night.

Nawaz and his friend went to the rooftop while members of his family and neighbours heard bullet shots. They rushed to the spot and found Nawaz and his friend bleeding.

The injured were taken to a hospital where Nawaz breathed his last while the condition of his friend was stated to be stable.

The younger sister of the deceased was reportedly killed mysteriously a couple of months back. Nawaz claimed in the report that his sister died accidentally while cleaning the gun. However, members of his family were suspicious of the accident. They claimed murder of Nawaz had direct link with the demise of his sister.

The deceased was an active member in politics among traders.

He was said to be a mate of some police officials. He had reportedly divorced two wives in three years.
