By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 12: All markets remained closed in Federal B-Area and nearby localities on Monday, following the killing of a Muttahida activist on Sunday.

The main commercial areas of Federal B-Area, including Water pump, Aisha Manzil, Azizabad and Karimabad remained closed throughout the day. Business activity also remained suspended in Ancholi Society and Federal B-Area’s Block 20 as shops and markets remained closed there.

Markets in Samanabad and Gulberg also kept their shutters down to mourn the death of Naeem Chasmoo, the slain Muttahida activist.

Traffic in Federal B-Area was thin during the morning rush hours, but later in the day normal traffic plied the roads in the area. Some private schools were also closed.

Shopkeepers pulled their shutters down soon after the killing of the Muttahida activist on Sunday evening.

Naeem was also a former sector in charge of the party’s Lines Area unit. He was killed in an ambush in the compound of Mehboob Square in Block-14 of Federal B-Area. He was sprayed with Kalashnikov bullets on the face by unidentified assailants.

A large number of people attended the funeral prayers of the slain Muttahida activist in Jinnah Ground at Azizabad on Monday. Besides others, the funeral prayers were attended by members of coordination committee of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, including Aftab Shaikh, Khalid Bin Waleed, Kunwar Khalid Younus and Abdul Qadir Lakhani.

Naeem was buried at a graveyard in the area.
