KARACHI, Nov 12: Reckless driving claimed three lives in the city on Monday.

A young motorcyclist died in a road accident in Malir. The police said that a motorcyclist, Kamran, aged 25, was knocked down by a recklessly-driven minibus of route D (JE-1958) near Natha Khan bridge. He was rushed to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

A teenaged boy died in a road accident at Nazimabad Chowrangi No 1. The police said that Aslam, aged 14, was knocked down by a vehicle at the traffic intersection in Nazimabad No 1. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Mohammed Khadim Khan, aged 35, travelling on a bicycle, was run over by a bus in Malir. The police said that Khadim, a private security guard, was crushed to death beneath the wheels of a bus of route 52-A near Malir mandir bus stop. The body was sent to the JMPC for post-mortem, the police said.

CARJACKING: Nine vehicles — five cars and four motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Monday, the police said.

Two cars were hijacked in Gulshan-i-Iqbal. Three others were stolen in Saddar, Al-Falah, and Taimooria.

The motorcycles were stolen in Aram Bagh, Artillery Maidan, and Khwaja Ajmair Nagri.

The police also claimed on Monday to have recovered three vehicles in the city.

ROBBERIES: One robbery was committed in the city on Monday, the police said.

Mohammed Iqbal lodged a complaint at Nabi Bux police station that unknown armed man deprived him of his mobile phone.

KILLED: Unknown assailants killed an elderly woman in Kalri on Monday.

The police said that Murad Bibi, aged 60, was stabbed to death by unknown persons in her house in Daryabad, Kalri. The body was sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem.

The police said that Murad Bibi lived alone on the first floor of her house, and her daughter-in-law lived on the ground floor. The motive behind the killing could not be immediately known, the police added.

The police said that the dead woman’s son worked in Dubai.

DIE: A labourer and the owner of an oil depot died when they fell into an oil storage tank in Orangi Town on Monday.

The police said that a labourer, Noor Ali, aged 20, and Khayal Mohammed, aged 35, the owner of an oil depot, were cleaning an underground oil storage tank at an oil depot in Metroville No 3 in Orangi Town when the accident happened.

The police said that both the labourer and owner climbed down into the tank where they slipped and suffered head injuries. They were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced them dead on arrival.
