7 fighters among 11 killed in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Nov 9: Seven Mujahideen were among 11 people killed in occupied Kashmir, a police spokesman said on Friday.

The spokesman claimed that three freedom fighters died in a clash with Indian forces near Kreeri, 40kms north of Srinagar. Three AK rifles were recovered near where the encounter occurred.

Two more Mujahideen, both members of the Lashkar-i-Taiba, were killed near Shangus, 65kms south of Srinagar during another clash, police claimed.

An Indian army soldier was also killed and two others injured during the Shangus encounter.

Two more Mujahideen died in two separate encounters elsewhere.

In Rajouri, 170kms northwest of occupied Jammu, one civilian was killed and 12 others injured when a bomb went off at a restaurant.

Police also said unidentified men shot dead the 75-year old father of a former legislator at Itchan village as he was heading to mosque for Friday prayers.

Police said another civilian was shot dead in Kupwara district.—AFP
