Maulana Azhar fears third world war

SIALKOT, Nov 9: Jaish-i-Muhammad amir Maulana Masood Azhar feared that the “prolonged stay of the US-led military troops in Afghanistan was paving the way for the third world war.”

In his Juma sermon after inaugurating the newly-constructed Al-Noor mosque at Budda Goraya town on the Daska-Pasrur Road, about 27 kilometres from here, he urged the Pakistan government to take up the issue to the UN to globally pressurize America and its allies to stop bombing in Afghanistan before Ramazan.

He said the continuation of the US-led war in Afghanistan, particularly during the holy month of Ramazan, would risk causing “negative fallout in the entire Muslim world”.

Maulana Azhar said despite the American barbarism in Afghanistan, the Taliban were not isolated. They were still enjoying the moral support of the Muslim world.

He urged the government to adopt ‘realistic’ policies for the peaceful resolutions of the Afghanistan and Kashmir issues.

He advised President Gen Pervez Musharraf to immediately become neutral over the Afghan issue “in the larger national interest.”

He was of the view that the government should immediately announce jihad against the “non-believers” for expressing complete solidarity with the Afghan people.

Maulana Azhar said the Kashmir dispute has gained the world attention due to the rising Indian atrocities on innocent people in the Held Valley.

“The Kashmir is the most serious conflict between Pakistan and India. Thus the UN should play its role in the early resolution of the issue according to the aspirations of the Kashmiri people,” he concluded.

ANNIVERSARY: The 124th birth anniversary of poet-philosopher Muhammad Iqbal was celebrated here on Friday with enthusiasm.

The day dawned with the special prayers for the national solidarity and peace. Quran Khwani was also held at all the mosques.

A number of programmes were organized by various government and non-governmental organizations to explain his philosophy and poetry.

Kalam-i-Iqbal reciting functions were organized by a large number of schools and colleges which were largely attended.

A large number of people visited the dilapidated Iqbal Manzil, the birth place of Allama Iqbal. They expressed grave concern over the miserable condition of the building and urged the government to take effective measures to save it.
