KARACHI: MQM condemns arrest

KARACHI, Nov 7: The coordination committee of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement has said that government agencies were taking extra constitutional and illegal action against its workers, which was causing concern among the permanent residents of the province.

Addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club, deputy convener of the committee, Aftab Shaikh, said that an ex office-bearer of the Muttahida’s Korangi sector, Tariq Khan, was arrested by the police and CIA personnel three days back and shifted to some unknown place. He was being subjected to torture in the custody in order to get changed his loyalty with the party.

Mr Aftab said that they were informed by the Sindh home secretary on Wednesday that Mr Tariq was not in official custody.
