KARACHI, Nov 6: Reckless driving claimed six lives in separate road traffic accidents in the city on Tuesday.

A four-year-old girl was hit by a coach in Korangi Industrial Area on Tuesday.

Fauzia, 4, was crushed by a speeding Mashriq Coach (PE-5011) near Darul Uloom Korangi Industrial Area.

Police claimed to have arrested the driver and impounded the vehicle.

An unidentified woman in her mid-30s died in a road accident in F.B. Area on Tuesday.

Police said the woman was run over by a truck (SI-3034) in Samnabad F.B. Area near Edhi Centre. Her two children also received injuries in the accident.

The mother and her children were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the woman was pronounced dead and her children were admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

The truck driver escaped.

In another accident in F.B. Area near Sohrab Goth, a woman died when she was hit by a minibus.

Sajjida, 35, was going with her husband Khalid on a motorcycle when they was hit by a minibus near Sohrab goth traffic signal intersection.

The victim was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the minibus escaped.

In yet another accident, a minibus conductor lost his life when the speeding minibus (JE-0257) skidded and over-turned on Native Jetty bridge on Tuesday.

However, the area police drew a blank on it.

Police said the victim who could not be identified died on the spot. The driver of the minibus escaped.

A middle-aged woman fell off a minibus in New Karachi on Tuesday.

Police said Habibun Nisa, 36, was boarding a minibus of route W-11 near Sindhi hotel when the driver suddenly accelerated the vehicle, and she fell down.

The victim was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where she expired during treatment, doctors said.

In yet another accident, an unidentified man was hit by a speeding vehicle on Shahra-i-Pakistan, F.B. Area on Tuesday evening.

Hospital sources said the victim was in his 50s and was hit by a vehicle. He was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he died during treatment.

His grand-daughter accompanying him was injured and admitted for treatment at the hospital, doctors said.

KILLED: A trader was shot dead by armed men at Eidgah on Tuesday.

Police said the owner of a tent house, Haji Mohammad Shafeeq, 80, was sitting in his outlet in Bohrapir, Eidgah, when two unidentified men came and demanded cash.

Mr Shafeeq refused to hand over cash on which the bandits shot at him and escaped, police said.

The victim was rushed to the Civil Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Hospital sources said the victim received a single bullet in his head which proved fatal.

carjacking: At least 12 vehicles — four car and eight motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in different parts of the city on Tuesday, police said.

The cars were stolen in Clifton, City Courts, Gulbahar, Surjani. Their numbers are: ADN-652, J-5733, KH-9258, JL-6834.

The motorcycles were taken away in Arambagh, Brigade and Shahrah Noor Jehan, Shah Faisal Colony, Bahadurabad, Peerabad and New Karachi areas and their numbers are: KCI-9537, KAK-3353, KAV-780, KAP-0624, KCT-5456, KCB-9346, KAK-4135, KAP-8446.
