KARACHI, Nov 6 PPI. Speakers at a seminar on “ Bahawalpur tragedy and terrorism” on Tuesday demanded the government to initiate immediate inquiry into the terrorist firing in Bahawalpur which left 18 people dead.
The speakers, including political leaders and representatives of minorities, severely condemned the incident besides denouncing the US-led military attacks on Afghanistan. They demanded the world community to play their role to halt the bombardment on the people of Afghanistan.
The seminar was organized by the Jammat-e-Islami at a local hotel
Prof Ghafoor Ahmed, deputy Chief JI Pakistan, said on the occasion that terrorists had no religion and faith, they were just terrorists; and the killing of a policeman who was Muslim by faith at the church was an ample example in this regard.
He lauded the Christians for remaining patient after the incident. and expressed the view that the provision of security to the people was not the responsibility of government only, the masses should also understand their responsibility and provide security to their non-Muslim brothers. He assured full cooperation and support to the Christian community
Chairman Catholic Church of Pakistan and representative of Bishop Simeon Perera, Paskal Robert, on the occasion praised the cooperation of the leaders of the Defense of Pakistan and Afghanistan Council DPAC after the incident and expressed sorrow over the incident.
