LARKANA, Oct 29: A gang of dacoits on Monday killed five villagers in the jurisdiction of Hatri Ghulam Shah police station while they were cutting wood and escaped. The ill-fated villagers, identified as Banoo alias Iqbal, Ali Gohar, Sajjid, Siddik and son of Ghous Bakhsh (all of Mirani clan), were the resident of village Allahndo Mirani situated in the limits of Taluka police station, Larkana.
They were overpowered by the dacoits gang while cutting wood near village Panjani Jatoi some 40 kilometres off here on the Right Bank of River Indus.
The dacoits along with the five villagers crossed over the Indus on boat, police sources on Monday night said and later gunned them down and escaped.
The sources said that Gadd Khuhro was leading the gang that had been at daggers drawn with Miranis and settled his old score.
Till filing of this report heavy police posse had gone after the dacoits into the kutcha to trace the killers.
HELICOPTERS: The people from village Gulbahar Babbar in the limits of Warishdino Mashi police station had reported to the police that around five, six helicopters on late Sunday night while flying over their village dropped about six flares.
Raees Muhammad Punhal, Muhammad Panah and others reported to the police that between Sunday-Monday night around five to six helicopters dropped flares that fell in the nearby ditch causing no damages to life and property.
DSP Ratodero Ali Nawaz Lashri rushed to the spot to confirm the reports; police sources said and conveyed to the high-ups the villagers’ version.
KILLED: Khair Muhammed alias Foto Dayo a resident of village Nandha Bossan was shot dead on the outskirts of Ratodero on Monday by five armed men.
On hearing shots, police chased the killers and laid hands on three alleged killers while fleeing. They were identified as Ghulam Ali, Nek Muhammed and Imdad (all of Dayo clan).
Two others escaped but police identified them as Imam Bakhsh and Dur Muhammed who would soon be netted-in.
OPD DEMANDED: The Nazims of union council-I and II Badah town have demanded to start out patients department (OPD) in the existing dispensary of the district council to avoid inconvenience to the patients as the rural health centre was away from the town.
Talking to this correspondent the other day, Akhtar Abbas and Mohammed Khan Channa, nazims of union council Badah II and I respectively, said that the RHC lied at the distance of three kilometre from the town which created problems for the patients.
The dispensary located at the centre of the town would serve the population in better way and the evening shift could be introduced there, they said.
It could also be used as emergency centre to meet the growing medical demands of the populace, the nazims added.
The local health officials have agreed to upgrade the district council dispensary soon, the nazims said.
