PESHAWAR, Oct 27: In line with the reform process in the forestry sector, a six-man panel was nominated by the Forestry Roundtable for NWFP Forestry Commission on Saturday.
The panel was elected at a meeting of the roundtable through secret ballet. The names would be sent to the provincial governor who would make the final selection of three names.
According to the NWFP Forestry Commission Act 1999, the governor will recommend three names for the commission out of six, and will appoint one member as chairman of the commission.
The 52-member roundtable comprised retired civil servants, forest-owners, users, mediamen, representatives of various NGOs and women organizations.
Two members from each of the three forest regions — Malakand, Hazara and central/southern forest areas — have to be elected.
