HBL-NBP trial match for new hockey rules

KARACHI, Oct 24: Habib Bank will meet National Bank in a practice match at Hockey Club of Pakistan Stadium Thursday at 4.30 p.m. for the trial of new rules of International Hockey Federation (FIH).

During the match three new rules will be tried that include extension of goal scoring area to 23 yards.

In the second trial defenders will be required to stand on the goal line as they do during the short corners or long corners.

At no point of time more than eight defenders will be allowed to remain in the 25-yard line area.

These rules are being tried on the instruction of FIH rules board headed by Brig. (Retd) M.H. Atif. Subsequently the findings and observations based on these trials will be submit-ted to FIH rules board for further discussion and action.—APP
