Inspector sacked, SHO suspended
KASUR, Oct 24: The Lahore range DIG on Wednesday sacked an inspector and suspended a SHO.
Inspector Sardar Qutab Din and SHO Rana Muhammad Yousaf of Kudian police were found guilty of misconduct and negligence in duty.
According to details, a youth Tahir was on his way to Meeratian village from Illahabad when he was killed by unknown people. His body was recovered near a brick kiln on the Kanganpur Road the next day.
A case was registered on March 25, 2001, under section 322 PPC with the Illahabad police. The report revealed Tahir died in an accident.
On his father’s complaint, Chunian Tehsil Hospital SMO Dr Muhammad Mushtaq examined the body and referred the case to the DHQ Hospital’s standing board for post-mortem.
On learning this, Inspector Qutab Din Dogar and ASI Muhammad Ramzan sought supplementary statements of the complaint and amended the FIR.
The post-mortem conducted by the medical board said the death had been caused by a bullet injury.
Lahore range DIG Javed Noor stated in his order that the fact regarding Tahir’s death was in the knowledge of the SHO but he hid the truth and registered a fake case under section 322 PPC instead of 296 PPC.
The SHO did not make any positive effort to arrest the accused, he added. He maintained the SHO received his (DIG’s) show cause notice on May 14, 2001, but he did not submit any reply. The SHO was also summoned to the DIG office eight times but he did not turn up.
The DIG dismissed inspector Sardar Qutab Din from service in his ex-parte action. He also suspended Khudian police SHO Rana Muhammad Yousaf on the charge of misconduct and negligence in duty.
Meanwhile, Kasur SSP suspended ASI Abdul Rahman of Saddar police for breach of duty.
