AKG sneak into third round

KARACHI, Oct 20: Aga Khan Gymkhana sneaked into the third round of the Lal Rab Nawaz Memorial cricket tournament, scoring on a higher rate in the first 10 overs, after their fixture against Mohammad Hussain CC ended in a tie at the Aga Khan Gymkhana ground.

Having first use of the wicket, Aga Khan Gymkhana reached 188 for nine wickets through splendid knocks from Javiad Mansoor (81) and Suleman Hudda (39). Spinners Omar Farooqi 3/33 and Sharjeel 2/24, bowled well for the fielding side.

With Azhar Gul (84 n.o.) and Sharjeel Ashraf (60 n.o.) in fine form with the willow, Mohammad Hussain CC also reached 188 runs in their 35 allotted overs, losing two wickets in the process. But this great effort by Azhar and Sharjeel was not enough to take their team through to the third round, as Aga Khan Gymkhana scored at a faster rate in the first 10 overs.

Farhad Iqbal chipped in with (26).
