KARACHI, Oct 20: The additional district and sessions judge, West, Muhammed Saghir Rana, acquitted on Saturday a worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in a murder case.
Kamran Akhter, who was booked for murder and several other offences by the Saeedabad police in 1995, was exonerated from all charges as the prosecution could not bring any incriminating evidence against him.
Besides the charge of killing a police constable, Shaukat, the Muttahida worker was also prosecuted for attacking a police party, arson, attempt to murder and violent activities.
NBWS ISSUED: The additional district and sessions judge, South, Muhammed Sabir Cheepa, issued non-bailable warrants for the arrest of two sub-inspectors for not appearing in the court despite several notices.
The court also ordered the DIG of Karachi to deduct Rs2,000 each from the salaries of SIs Imran and Fayyaz, who had not appeared before the court since 1999.
The court ordered the DIG to ensure the arrest of the two police officials and produce them before the court on Oct 27.
The two officials of the Kalakot police are required by the court for their evidence in a case against Hanif, who is facing the charge of injuring a man during a quarrel.
The same court also issued the non-bailable warrants for the arrest of SI Muhammed Aslam of Kharadar police station, who had not been appearing before the court for his evidence in a traffic accident since 1994. The judge ordered the deduction of Rs3,000 from his salary.
The additional district and session judge, Muhammed Riyaz Shaikh, issued the non-bailable warrants for the arrest of a motor vehicle inspector, S. M. Mohsin, for not appearing before the court in a traffic accident case.
The court ordered the police to arrest the inspector and produced him before the court on Oct 26.
