HYDERABAD, Oct 19: Jeay Sindh Mahaz, an off-shoot of Mr G M Syed’s Jeay Sindh Movement, has split into two groups following elections of the organization.

Ex-chairman of the party Abdul Khaliq Junejo has restored former bodies of the Mahaz which existed before September last year when Zain Shah, the grandson of late G M Syed, had not yet joined it.

Speaking at a news conference at the Hyderabad press club here on Friday, Mr Junejo with his supporters announced that the bodies including the central committee, JSSF, Porhiat Sangat and Sindhi Nari Sangat, which had existed before Zain Shah group’s entry, had been restored.

He claimed that the majority of the members of the then central body and central committee had supported this decision.

He said, “Jeay Sindh Mahaz was founded by late G M Syed and since then it has been struggling for the national survival, independence and prosperity of Sindh”.

He said the workers of the Mahaz believed in collective interests, clean character of its members, democratic values and fighting the case of Sindh through arguments.

Referring to Zain Shah’s defection from Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, he said that last year a political group dissociated itself from the JSQM and since this group believed in the principles of the JSM, they were invited to join the Mahaz.

He added that in August last year, the cabinet and central committee of the JSM decided to allow this group to join the Mahaz on certain conditions.

Junejo said that these conditions were that the name, constitution and the manifesto of the party would remain same and under no circumstances would the criminal elements be allowed to join the party.

He claimed that this group was given more representation in the interim party setup than it deserved.

He, however, regretted that within few days the new comers started acting in a way which disappointed the old and committed workers of the party.

He added that some undesirable elements were also allowed to join the party which created a restive atmosphere among its sincere and veteran workers.

He said that a meeting of the JSM was held on July 27 this year which decided to hold party elections from district to central level in two months and to convene another party meeting on October 6.

Junejo said that a three-member committee led by Azad Kazi was appointed to hold the elections and added that for the intervening period another three-member organising committee was appointed under the leadership of Agha Qamar to run the daily affairs of the party.

He regretted that during these two months, the heads of the two committees violated every rule of the party.

He alleged that massive malpractice was done in the party district elections and even non-members were issued membership certificates to attend the meeting of the national congress at Sann.

Junejo claimed that these illegalities and malpractice in elections were committed under a plan hatched by outsiders.

He said that keeping in view the violations of rules and regulations in the district elections, his supporters did not participate in the central elections of the party.

He said since the new comers had played havoc with the constitution and manifesto of the party and enrolled criminal factor, the majority of the senior party workers had decided to restore the old setup to protect the legacy and the party of late G M Syed.

The others who were present in the press conference included Malik Mahar, Khan Mohammad Bhayo, Hashim Khoso, Amar Junejo, Masroor Chandio and Ahmed Khan Chandio.
