Akhtar and Kashif put Dadu on top
KARACHI, Oct 15: Akhtar Bangash and Kashif Ali produced brilliant batting and bowling performances to put Dadu on to top on the opening day of their two-day Quaid-i-Azam Trophy grade-II match at KCCA Stadium Monday.
Akhtar smashed a rapid 132 off 134 balls with 11 powerful fours and three sixes in a three hours stay at the crease and fiery Kashif Ali grabbed six wickets for 17 runs to steal the limelight for debutant Dadu.
Sent to bat first, Dadu made a healthy 264 for nine wickets in restricted 65 over of the first innings. Mirpurkhas in reply crashed to 66 all out in 26.5 overs just before stumps and facing ignominy of being enforced the follow-on.
Mirpurkhas still needed 198 runs to avoid an innings defeat if asked to follow-on Tuesday.
Akhtar and former Pakistan junior international Shahid Qambrani put on 137 runs in brisk second wicket in mere 83 minutes. Shahid made 52 with three boundaries and six.
Left arm spinner Abid Nazir who unchanged took seven wickets for 80 runs in 22 overs for Mirpurkhas.
When Mirpurkhas batted only Kashif Pervez and Abid Nazir reached double figure. Kashif got support from leg spinner Javed Liaquat who took three for 25.

Kalat and Quetta shared the honours on the first-day at PCB Academy Ground.
Kalat were bowled out for 228 four balls before their allotted 65 overs of the first innings. Quetta responded by reaching 122 for one wicket in 32 overs in its first innings.
After Manzoor Ahmed went for one, Ali Ahmed and Sabir Hussain put on 119 runs for the unbroken second wicket stand in as many minutes for Quetta.
Ali Ahmed was batting on 60 including five boundaries and Sabir Hussain was 46 not out with a the aid of a six and a four at close of play.
Opener Jahanzaib topscored for Kalat with 61 with three fours and a six.

Naseerabad pacer Jurial Khan snapped up five wickets to bundle out Turbat for 108 in their first innings at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium.
Choosing to bat first, Turbat first innings folded at 108 after lunch with Jurial running through their batting with five for 46 in 19 overs.
Naseerabad later consolidated their position by reaching a formidable 215 for six wickets in 53 overs in its first outing by close of play in the two-day match.
They are now leading by 107 runs with four wickets in hand and Bashir Ahmed 33 not out at close.
Opener Faiz Ahmed gave Naseerabad a flying start, hitting 54 off 53 balls with three sixes and as many fours. Talib Hussain hitup an impressive 67.

Kaleem Shah (54) helped add 161 for the unfinished third wicket partnership with Faiz.

Khurram Butt and Naeem Iqbal shared three wickets each while Farhan Abbasi took two wickets.
Rahimyar Khan took first innings lead against Rajanpur at Mahmood Stadium.
