MUZAFFARABAD, Oct 13: The AJK High Court here on Saturday granted bail to AJK legislative assembly member Sardar Akhtar Hussain Rabbani in a graft case.
The single member bench, comprising Chief Justice Syed Manzoor Hussain Gillani, granted bail to Mr Rabbani on a personal surety of Rs 250,000 in view of his ailment.
The accused who was arrested by the Ehtesab Bureau on September 8 under charges of drawing TA/DA to the tune of Rs 250,000 on fake bills in his capacity as advisor to chairman AJK Council, was admitted to the Abbas Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) Muzaffarabad about a week ago under the orders of the High Court. The Ehtesab Court had rejected his bail plea on September 18.
Mr Rabbani was also arrested in March this year while he was minister for electricity in the Barrister Sultan Mahmood led government of Peoples Party. Then he was charged with making illegal appointment of his brother in BPS-19. He was however released on bail after one week and he continued as minister till the dissolution of the cabinet ahead of July 5 polls.
