Student leader shot dead

BAHAWALPUR, Oct 12: A former student leader of the Islamia University, Bahawalpur, was killed during an exchange of fire at the Old University Chowk, on Friday.

Abdul Rashid was reportedly a member of the Anjuman Talaba Islam (ATI). He received severe injuries during an exchange of fire between rival groups. The injured breathed his last on his way to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH).

Investigations are under way.

BLACK DAY: The PML(N) on Friday observed black day to mark the ouster of Nawaz Sharif regime by Gen Pervez Musharraf.

The PML youth wing held a meeting which was addressed by its Punjab vice-president Aqeel Najam Hashmi and other office-bearers. However, no noted PML leader attended the meeting.

The speakers criticized the government with special reference to present policy of siding with America.
