Pakistanis, Saudis now need visa to enter Singapore

SINGAPORE, Oct 12: Citizens of Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Sudan now need visas to enter Singapore, immigration officials said on Friday.

Visa requirements are reviewed regularly and “updated based on the global-security situation,” the immigration and registration department said in a statement in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on the United States.

Visitors who hold passports from the five countries can apply for visas from any of the Singapore missions abroad.

With the five additions, the number of countries whose citizens need a visa to enter the city-state reached 33.

Among the others are China, Afghanistan, Cambodia and 12 former Soviet republics.—dpa
