Ban on wrestlers stays

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Oct 10: Pakistan Wrestling Federation (PWF) has decided to continue the unlimited period ban imposed on seven grapplers early this year for not attending the national training camp held for the ninth SAF Games preparations.

The decision was taken in the PWF executive committee presided over by Shahid Ali Khan Wednesday.

The PWF secretary, Chaudhary Mohammad Arif, told newsmen that the meeting unanimously decided that the ban on the seven wrestlers to remain in force for the unlimited period because the grapplers despite  being provided enough  opportunities to explain reasons behind their absence from the training camp, failed to do so.

The wrestlers under ban are Robin Masih, Abdul Wassey Khan, Dilber (Wapda), Usman Majeed, Gulzar, Aimal Khan (Railway) and Shaukat Mara (Army).

The PWF official said  that the national wrestling championship to be held in Multan in the first week of December, 2001 Chaudhary Iftikhar Ahmad had been named as its  organising secretary.

The “Rustam-e-Pakistan Dangal” will be held in Lahore in the mid of January 2002.
