LAHORE, Oct 10: The long shot bay colt, Stage Shot, registered a pillar-to-post victory in an impressive style during mid-week Lahore Gymkhana races at the Racecourse Wednesday.
Trained by Mohammad Afzal and steered by riding boy A. Aziz, Stage Shot beat the bay mare Morning Glory by a distance. The fancied bay colt Cape Town finished third, three lengths further behind while the chestnut gelding Science Fiction completed the frame, another two-and-a-half lengths back.
In all, 14 contested in this fourth event of the afternoon after the withdrawal of Lover’s Gift. Like all the other races of the day this fourth race was also run over the sprinting distance of six furlongs.
Riding boy A.Aziz credited himself with a double by bringing home home Blu’s High in the sixth and feature event.
A bit slow at the start, the bay colt Blu’s High covered the lost ground and thereafter hurried past the non-serious looking rivals to win by two-and-a-quarter lengths from Burq Raftar. The bay filly Delta Song finished third, a distance further behind while the bay colt Zaman Love finished fourth, one-and-a-quarter lengths further back.
The Lahore Race Club (LRC) stewards suspended the riding boy Khalil Vikky, pending findings of an inquiry instituted against him, for his handling of Always Inn in the second race.
