Naib Nazim slain over old score

FAISALABAD, Oct 8: The Naib Nazim of a union council was stabbed to death over an election dispute in Chak 58, Lieelan Police Post, on Monday.

Differences between parties of Naib Nazim Muhammad Nasir and Asif Javed had grown after the recent local elections. Nasir’s brother reportedly quarrelled with some of his opponents on the day of incident.

Accused Faqir Ahmad, Akhtar Mahmood and Rasheed attacked Nasir with knives, leaving him injured. He died on his way to a local hospital due to excessive bleeding.

LOOTED: Dacoits looted 36 bags of yarn worth hundreds of thousand of rupees from a factory in Ghulam Muhammadabad, on Sunday night.

Five dacoits burst into the Razzaq Dubbing Factory, held up the employees on duty, including the management, and took away some three dozen bags of yarn.

CRASH: Two persons were killed and 13 other passengers sustained injuries when a Faisalabad bound speeding wagon overturned near here on Monday.

One of the dead was identified as Abdul Qayyum, Wapda lineman.

The injured were identified as Sheikh Imran, Mst Almas of Chiniot, Tanvir, Haji Sharif, Mst Musarrat, Abdul Aziz, Ashraf Nazir, Riaz of Faisalabad, Muhammad Ismail of Khushab, Khalid of Aminpur, Pervez Ahmed of Sargodha, Naik Ghulam Muhammad and Naik Nazir Ahmed of Okara.
