KARACHI: Accountability in police

KARACHI, Oct 7: The Inspector General Police, Sindh, Syed Kamal Shah, on Saturday issued two Standing Orders — one regarding the initiation of internal accountability and the other concerning the training of instructors.

In his first standing order, the IGP observed that the system of internal accountability did not exist in Sindh Police and it had been noted that serious complaints against police personnel ended up in the police stations against whom the complaint had been made.

The IGP said an independent and effective system of internal accountability was being introduced.

IGP said under this new system dedicated police officers were being nominated at the provincial, range and district levels.

These officers would be provided with all logistic and administrative support to carry out their job in an impartial manner.—APP
