ISLAMABAD, Oct 6: An accountability court on Saturday, adjourned the indictment of the former Indus Bank chairman Khurshid Sohail and others till October 13.

The Accountability Court No 1 judge, Rustam Ali Malik, was scheduled to indict the accused today. The court adjourned the case due to the engagements of the defence lawyer Raja Mohammad Akram at the Lahore High Court.

The National Accountability Bureau had already rejected a bargain application of the former Indus Bank chairman.

The court had declared Mohammad Ali Sohail, the co-accused and son of Khurshid Suhail, and Ibrahim Rizvi as proclaimed offenders.

According to the prosecution, Khurshid Sohail misappropriated Rs177 million of the Bank by creating a private company, Amatex International.

He also misused the Bank funds to pay the shares of the outgoing directors, the prosecution added.

Mr Sohail had questioned the charges levelled against him through another application, stating that certain documents relating to the reference were allegedly fabricated, and vital documents proving his innocence had been deliberately concealed.

The accused had pleaded to take notice of the senior officials of the State Bank, who, according to him, were involved in destroying his bank.

The same court also adjourned the hearing of the corruption reference against the former Chairman Capital Development Authority Shafi Sehwani till October 11.
