KARACHI, Oct 5: Fine bowling by the Man-of-the-Match, Adnan Ahmad, who grabbed four wickets for 21 runs propelled Zahoor GBSS into the final of the Siemens Inter-School cricket tournament played as they scored a narrow 14-run victory against Pak Al Jadeed School in the semifinal played at National Bank Sports Complex Thursday.
Zahoor GBSS batting first were bowled out for 134 in 34.5 overs. Only Kamran Ali (28), Farman Sartaj (22) and Asad Butt (15) could reach double figures against accurate Pak Al Jadeed attack.
Pak Al Jadeed’s outcricket was sloppy and conceded 37 runs, the highest individual score of Zahoor GBSS innings.
Farrukh (3-21), Masroor (2-34) and Mehrozuddin (2-8) were the successful bowlers for Pak Al Jadeed. Pak Al Jadeed openers Faraz Khan (38) and Fazal Khan (38) put on 78 for the first wicket to put their side in with a great chance of achieving the modest target.
However the departure of the openers within a space of seven runs saw a sensational collapse and Pak Al Jadeed lost their nine wickets for mere 42 runs to lose by 14 runs.
Adnan did the most damage taking four wickets for 21 runs in his quota of eight overs out of which one was maiden.
