NOWSHERA: Rs135,000 looted

By Our Correspondent

NOWSHERA, Oct 5: Armed men broke into a depot of a multinational beverage company and snatched cash and other items after manhandling its staff, police in Azakhel said here on Thursday.

Police said that four armed men barged into the depot of Pepsi Cola on the main Grand Trunk Road, manhandled the staff members on duty and snatched Rs135,000 in cash and a mobile phone. The incident occurred a few hundred meters away from the police checkpoint at 3.00pm in the afternoon. The depot is situated opposite the fish market but no one saw the daylight robbery.

A staff member, Salim Jan, told reporters that he was inside the depot when two men entered and shook hands with him. The two men, he said, were followed by two others. He said that the armed men cut off the telephone line and later demanded cash.

He said that the armed men tied them up and locked the office from outside before leaving.
