Postmaster suspended for selling fake stamps

GUJRANWALA, Oct 4: The postmaster of the Climaxabad post office was suspended from service while a probe was initiated against other postal officials for selling fake and used stamps here on Thursday.

A joint team of the army and senior postal officers, on a tip off that many postmasters were selling fake and used stamps, raided the Climaxabad post office branch and recovered fake and used stamps worth Rs2,700 from the possession of postmaster Ishaq. The raiding team suspended him from service instantly besides issuing him a show-cause notice.

The team also raided other post office branches and detected irregularities. The team took their record into possession.

BAIL REJECTED: The additional district and sessions judge on Thursday rejected the bail application of the killer of his mother.

Ehsanullah of Naushera Virkan had killed his mother, Amina Bibi, over a petty issue a few days ago. He got interim bail when police booked him in a murder case.

The court observed that the accused killed his mother and he did not deserve confirmation of his bail. Police arrested him from the court and later sent him to jail.

INJURED: Six persons, including a police constable, were injured in a clash between two rival groups over a petty issue in Bharoki village, Kamoki, on Thursday.

Those injured are Khalid, Abdul Sattar, constable Shamshad Ahmad, Dilshad Ahmad, Sarwar and Tariq Mahmood. They were taken to hospital in critical condition.
